Re: 2020 Trip to Texas
today's 242.8 miles with one rest stop took us 4 hrs 27 min .... interesting in a few ways .... for one, we saw more dead wild hogs than we did deer .... for another the critter that topped the chart for the most road kills was skunks .... absolutely no clue how many we saw but the total was way up there .... we drove for over 3 hours through today's forecasted 10% chance of rain .. .. in addition to the rain, we drove into strong headwind for the entire trip, don't even want to find out our MPG .... lastly, it was 72 degrees when got into the truck and left Columbus .... it had dropped to 51 when we reached Granbury .. .. that one we weren't expecting ..

At least you made it Jim. Probably had steak on the grill when you got there.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Re: 2020 Trip to Texas
our last day in Granbury, TX went well .... tomorrow morning with the forecasted temp to be around freezing, we are slated to pull out and head back to Columbus, TX .... haven't checked to be sure but we anticipate our route to be pretty much the same as our drive up here .... we are looking forward to getting further south in Texas where the temperature forecast are calling for a warming trend

Re: 2020 Trip to Texas
today's drive covered 248.6 miles in 4 hr 41 min in moving from Granbury, TX back to Columbus, TX .... during our 3 day stay in Granbury we drove 49.3 non-towing miles .... the pictures below are of our site in Whispering Oaks RV Park in Weimar, TX .... very nice park, owned and operated by very nice people .... $36.90 w/ Goodsam Discount .... grounds well maintained .... 60/30/20 electrical hookups .... good water pressure .... sewer hookup is within a area surrounded by landscaping timbers, can require some creative solutions to maintain a downhill flow (last picture) .... every site in the park is occupied, folks who wish to camp here would be wise to book well in advance

Re: 2020 Trip to Texas
our shortest travel day of less than 10 miles back to Thousand Trails Colorado River campground is on tap for this morning .... we hope to pull out shortly after 11AM .... our plan is to be there a week and then travel back to Lake Conroe .... its hard to believe that only one month from today we are slated to head home
