well, we are up and about and yes, its raining .... with only a couple of hour drive, no hurry to get on the road this morning .... if we can catch a pause in the rain around 10AM, that would be great for us

well, we made it .... the drive itself went smoothly .... historically, when we check into Thousand Trails Colorado River CG we have to spend a day or two parked on a water / electric site before getting to move to a sit with full hookups (50 amp current, water, sewer) .... today, for the first time, when we checked in they had one open full hookup site .... will post pictures later but it suffices to say, this site is very wet with standing water and mud .... our departure from home on this trip was delayed when I got our rig stuck in our back yard .... today, I got her stuck AGAIN during a blind side back-in .... in short we provided the afternoon entertainment for our part of the campground .... nobody who camps will doubt the fact that if you get enough good old boys working to move a stuck rig, sooner or later it will move .... it turned out that we had to unhook the camper from our truck and hook it up to HD 4-wheel drive that was able to pull our 5er back out on the road in front of our site .... we then hooked it back up to our truck and this time got it backed into place .... by the way, nothing broken, dented, or harmed .. 8-)

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

our drive from Lake Conroe to our current campground near Columbus, TX covered 120.3 miles / in 3 hrs .... during our 3 weeks at Lake Conroe we 378.4 non-towing miles .... earlier today we drove over to Columbus .... while there we stopped at the Post Office, picked up an Amazon delivery, picked up meds at Walmart and groceries at H.E.B.'s .... after a bit of ditching, our site appears to be drying but I don't what I did will solve the problem when next we have rain .... we did continue our site setup by hooking up our water softener and putting out our patio carpet tomorrow I hope to be able to finish our site setup

we are on site C-5 as shown on this map ====> https://www.rvonthego.com/media/com_rv/ ... 305234.pdf .... the map shown has to be an old one because a couple of years ago, the Red colored sites in section C were all upgraded to 50 amp, full hookup

Ok was looking at the campground from Google maps. Looks like there was a portion of one spot that went away with a high water situation. Not sure how old the google map picture is.

good eye .... over the years they've had heavy rains upstream that have washed out some sites .... I think the last time was in '15 or '16 .... as can be seen at this link ===> https://www.google.com/maps/place/Thous ... 96.6086786 the sites along that stretch are on a pretty high bank .... my best estimate would be 50 or more feet about the normal water level .... back during the last flood water got several feet deep in the bath house that can be seen by the path from the lower to the upper part of the loop .... I don't know how many sites have been lost but a pure guess would be way less than 10

So where is the nearest place to do some shooting from there Jim and is it at a regular range or is there a place in open country to shoot.

I haven't found a one yet but then I haven't been able to spend much time looking .... my first impression is I'll probably end up having to go east toward Houston .... with this being a rural area, I expected it wouldn't be too hard to find a range
