Re: Halloween at Chesapeake
interesting, productive day ....
removed and reinstalled the male plug on our 50 amp extension cord .... found the problem to be a broken hard plastic area inside the plug .... was able to put it back together in a way that it will work .... that said, not too happy with it .... replacement ordered that will be installed when we get back home
reinstalled the handle on our Charcoal Chimney Starter .... took longer to dig out a couple of pop rivets than it did to replace them .... on issue is all I have are aluminum and I doubt that with the heat they will last very long .... need to pick up some steel ones
purchased 600+ pieces of candy for Halloween .... will divide it and pack it in a couple of hundred small ziplocs later this week
no leaks found in the truck's cooling system ..

Re: Halloween at Chesapeake
I just find some things to be funny .... below are pictures of a company that cleans out septic tanks .... their truck was parked by a bathhouse near our campsite at Chesapeake Thousand Trails ... I couldn't help but smile when I saw the company's name

Re: Halloween at Chesapeake
we've been told that 50 some rigs are due to check in between today and tomorrow .... we haven't seen many children since the weekenders left last Sunday afternoon .... with Trick-or-Treating scheduled for Saturday night, most of those rigs will have at least one kid .... consequently, one task we hope to complete is to fill 75 snack size Ziplocs with candy .... if that doesn't prove to be enough we can most certainly fill some more as the evening moves along

I filled 75 bags each with 10 ounces of candy. Unfortunately someone broke into the house and ate three. I hope they last until Halloween.JEBar wrote: ↑Thu Oct 22, 2020 11:07 amwe've been told that 50 some rigs are due to check in between today and tomorrow .... we haven't seen many children since the weekenders left last Sunday afternoon .... with Trick-or-Treating scheduled for Saturday night, most of those rigs will have at least one kid .... consequently, one task we hope to complete is to fill 75 snack size Ziplocs with candy .... if that doesn't prove to be enough we can most certainly fill some more as the evening moves along

we won't weigh ours .... we buy the big bags of individually wrapped small pieces of candy -- Reese's, KitKat, Heath, M&M's, Butterfinger, etc -- we will drop 4 pieces into each bag

Re: Halloween at Chesapeake
the campground is starting to fill up .... I never cease to be somewhat amazed at how some folks spend hours and no small amount of money to decorate their sites for Halloween .... we plan to take more pictures during our next couple of daily walks ... early this morning, no children could be seen .... by dark, bicycles were being peddled all over the place .. .. we filled about 80 bags as can be seen below .... should the be needed, we are prepared to fill that many more .... the trees are slowly starting and are growing more beautiful every day

its been a very good day where we are camped near Gloucester, VA .... the rain that was originally forecasted to come in around 5PM isn't due to arrive until sometime after midnight .... all-in-all, we ended up having well over 150 Trick-or-Treaters .... that is down a from years past .... we really enjoyed it

Those are some pretty cute costumes in your pics, especially the last pic with the girl in the white dress with the crazy eyes. Looks like a lot of fun for the kids and adults too.

Trick-or-Treating here is much like I remember when I was a kid .... families coming through together .... in the picture the mother is on the left, the two girls are getting candy and the father is in the background .... the older girl's costume is that of a Zombie Bride .... the father is a police officer, the mother is a former police officer .... the youngest girl's police costume was correct in every detail ... the are camped across from us and we have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them

Re: Halloween at Chesapeake
with the forecast for it to be cold and rainy, staying in the camper is pretty much the the order of the day .... several campers have already hooked up and pulled out .... hate it for those folks, no way they could do so without getting wet ..... in addition, once they get home or to their next destination much of their gear will have to be unpacked and dried .... one small task has been completed, that being to clear calcium deposits out of a third or so of the small openings in our camper's OEM show head .... will probably spend some time sharpening blades later on
