Always fun to watch new neighbors move in, isn't it? That definitely is a cool-looking set-up next door to you.
Actually, it reminds me a little of the very first mobile home I lived in back in the early 70s. It was 10' X 52' and nothing but a rectangular box. Can't believe that was our house way back then.
The rodeo photos sequence was really cool, JEBbar. Someone (you maybe?) was really quick on the trigger in taking those. Bet those kids had a blast.
Anyway, glad to travel with you during your vacation time and see all the interesting sights along the way!

Re: 2018 Summer Trip West
kind comments appreciated .... the kids had a ball at the rodeo .... it gave them something very different to talk about with their friends .... we leave an electric Masterbuilt Smoker out here with one of my wife's brothers .... most of today has been spent getting it to our campsite and testing it .... it appears to be good to go .... we have prepped and wrapped 5 racks of baby backs to smoke tomorrow for 7 adults .... will take some pictures along the way

Re: 2018 Summer Trip West
7-17-18 .... slow day, relaxing day, yet, sobering day .... last month when we arrived in Estelline, there was one site occupied .... its a small camper that was being used as a temporary housing for Brad Reuer who was the new manager of the town's grain elevator .... he stayed in it during the week and returned home on weekends .... he and his wife were in the process of looking for a home in or near town so that they could move .... we chatted several times, once I helped him take a 4-wheeler out of the bed of his pickup .... I remember him leaving for home last Saturday .... we just got word he passed away at his home the following day .... he was a comparatively young man, an active outdoorsman .... he never expressed a single word during our talks that would have indicated an health concerns .... as stated, a very sobering day

53 is way to young to go no matter the cause. My dad was a homicide victim at 56. I was only 27 at the time and thought then many years were stolen from him. We never know if the next day is promised to us.

ain't that the truth .... its hard to believe our time has passed so quickly .... if all goes as planned, we are due to pull out and head home two weeks from tomorrow .... one more major family reunion is still on tap .... other than that, nothing major between now and when we pull out

Re: 2018 Summer Trip West
today got off to an early start with the sounding of my cell phone's ringtone .. .. not normal and almost never a good sign .... turned out to be our home alarm company informing me that the charge of the control panel's backup battery was low .. .. we later learned that there was a perfectly good explanation and that the battery's low level of charge wasn't a problem .... a heavy thunderstorm rolled through late yesterday evening and knocked the power out for 14 hours .... so far as we know, no lasting damage was done .... that's something we can be thankful for ..
