It's kind of an odd "sale price" strategy. $50 Off, no matter what the original price was. Kind of a yawner on a rifle that was almost $1,200 to start with.
Looks like maybe someone, somewhere in the food chain of firearms distribution - from HRA through the various distributors and down to a retailer like Sportsman's - has a few (dozen) Special Editions that need to get moved.

Yep - exactly what I was thinking.
I'll take a guess and say they are going to have to come down a lot more than $50 off for them to move.
