Sightron Sights

Post by Shakey Jake » Tue Aug 14, 2018 5:46 pm

Midsouth has a sale on Sightron sights now with free ship. I don't need another scope right now but would be tempted to go after this one for a lever gun if needed: https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/ ... tte-finish

I thought I had done a lot of research on scopes until this post showed up. Do you have some in your collection (or one, anyway)?

Need to look around their website and see what's up, but thanks for the tip (I think)!

Holy smokes. This one looks unbelievable for under $300.

I have a few sightrons and cant fault them, I think they are the best value for money available.
Interesting Leupold have dropped their VX-1 & VX-2 lines and replaced them with the VX Freedom that reportedly has superior optics to either and is significantly cheaper. Cant help but think it is due to the competiton from the entry level sightrons.

does look like a good deal, but the x42 objective is pretty big.

It IS big, you're so right, but I'm putting together a set-up in my head with a rifle I don't own, that Long Ranger in .308 that keeps calling my name.

With the tapered barrel, I think I could get away with the 42mm objective diameter.

The other thing that appeals to me about these Sightrons (in addition to some great features like side focus) is the 30mm tube, which adds a bit more weight, which I'm sort of seeking to help tamp down the recoil of that 308 round. It's only a 7 lb rifle (empty).

Anyway, it's just all fantasizing for now. Nice find, though, thanks Jake!

My link was for the 2-10X 32. Yes, they have others on sale as well. Most are 30mm so make sure you get 30mm rings you don't already have them.
As an edit I'll mention I do have some Sightron scope rings I use on the Ruger .223 They're made very well.

30mm inexpensive rings that I bought. Several height options. They are in the Red Dot Scope Accessories section, but that is misdirection.

I think Vortex would rather we buy from their rings section, but rings there are very expensive.

Those look very nice, but, what do these folks mean when the put the word "Tactical" in the name/descriptor of a product like scope rings? Is it just marketing, or is there something different about them? I like those a lot - they look very sturdy, I'm guessing they're steel (at 2.3 oz each), but what makes 'em tactical and not "hunting" rings?

Tactical is just a marketing name in my opinion. They have other ring products called Razor, Sparc, etc. I did look at their 'Hunter' rings (thin 2 screw tube calmp) and those don't look near as sturdy as the Tactical (thicker 6 screw tube clamp). So maybe there is something in the name to imply heavy duty.
