Spring has Sprung

Post by BrokenolMarine » Tue May 21, 2019 8:46 pm

The Castle landscaping has bloomed...
The view of the front shows off Miss Tina's careful planning.
Coral Barked Maple to the right of the deck
Red Maple to the left.
Smoke Tree in front of the deck
Roses scattered here and there.
Azaleas litter the landscape
and other nice trees and ornamentals...

The gap along the edge of the drive used to be filled with a nice wide ornamental Knockout Rose line, that was about chest high. Before the temps warmed up, we pulled them all up and tossed them. They had lasted ten years. Tina decided they had begun to look shaggy and broken so, gone. ( I am beginning to look shaggy and broken... )

The view down the drive shows you how nice and secluded the home on the ridgeline is. The view is a bit deceptive. The drive drops down, goes over a small rise then drops again, and curves a bit. It's a measured 250 yards or so... and you can just see the main tertiary road at the bottom. Fun in the winter when the snow is deep... :D Twenty Five years of spreading gravel have given us a solid base however, so no major issues in wet weather in the spring or fall. ;)

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

They are one of my favorites.
The roses around the place are my touch. Standards, climbing, mini, whatever. I really like roses.

We noticed this morning that nocturnal visitors had consumed every single rose bloom in the front yard. Those deer are a pain in the butt. They are also eating all the young fruit off the young fruit trees. I don't hunt... But it's enough to make me want to buy a paintball gun. :D

First Flower 2020

Post by CT_Shooter » Thu Mar 19, 2020 1:32 pm

We're off to a very early Spring in CT. I snapped this with my phone on Tuesday morning after I spotted it while filling the nearby bird feeders.
