I always give a new gun, a thorough cleaning, Never know what you'll find in there. Better safe than sorry.
I have to agree. It never hurts to give a new gun a good clean and breakdown inspection. It's not unheard of for a small screw, spring, or shaving to get left behind in the manufacturing and final packaging of any gun or other products. Besides, who doesn't want to fondle their Henry when they first get it ;)

In my experience new guns tend to be dirty. I always clean em before shooting.
