Why not just ask them to send you a new tube?
Hardly a quick handyman fix.
Actually it is - pretty simple to replace and rifle stays in your possession.

Ed, ( I know Right?) that is exactly what I asked for.
She said that they send those parts out, that I should send them the rifle and one of their Smiths would take care of it.
So here I am.

RP

Edit: Won't send those parts out.

She said that they send those parts out,
Ok if she said they 'send those parts out' why are they not just sending you the tube then?

Just wondering is all.

That sucks!

All the hassle of sending it back for a simple load tube swap!

I came back to this thread to see that picture Randy put up of the cracked tube. My BB brass .357 has the same "collar" configuration[2016] as his.
My BB steel[2019] has the collar at the end like forty mentions. I honestly never paid much attention to it till this came up. I'll keep an eye on my .357. Is JEBar's a .44 also?

Yep, about what I thought, but what ya do?
One thing about it, it certainly makes for another argument against the loading tube. :o  ;)
Never have that worry with the Marlins, Winchesters, or the Rossi. :o
the rifle is only 13 yrs old.
Most of my Marlins and the 3 Winnies are all much older.

I don't think Randy is at a loss for something to shoot while it's gone.😁
Does not cost anything.....let Henry do it!
Might end up with an improved load tube anyway.

but what ya do?
Well what I would do is draft a well worded letter to A. I. Rationalizing the time and expense of sending the rifle in is unnecessary as the removal of the load tube is technically a maintenance issue, is simple to replace and I am very capable of doing so.
I would explain I have no issue about sending it in for any repair that is not something an owner would typically accomplish but replacing the load tube is simple, does not require special tools or equipment and I am capable of doing this as I have removed it (and reinstalled it) for cleaning previously.
