Another return

Post by BigAl52 » Mon Jan 06, 2020 1:01 pm

As I mentioned in a 357 Range report my CCH 357 Carbine is binding up when the lever is operated. I emailed Henry and I have a return label already to send it back to the Rice Lake plant. Not sure what is causing this as I looked at every possible thing I could think of.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

How far did you go when 'looking' ? Did you remove the lever or the bolt perchance? Or perform a complete teardown?

Reason I ask is I had a minor 'hangup' in my BBB when cycling and only found it after a complete teardown and discovered a slight burr on the carrier.

Ed
Yes I tore it clear down even taking out the trigger assembly. I notice the bolt was alot harder to remove than on any of my other Henry's which also seem strange to me. It never from the get go seemed quite right to me. I thought maybe some working the action might take care of this but its only gotten worse. I hope its something easy as replacing the internal parts because I really like the CCH on this gun. A full replacement I may not get back the same CCH.

Got it.

It would have been interesting to 'mike' the bolt to see if it was perfectly round, as well as to try to get a caliper inside the chamber to check it as well.

Hey Al, hope you get "your" rifle back with only some minor tuning, or internal part replacement.

Well if they go over it like Ruger does it should be really slick when you get it back!
Haven't had to send my Henrys back yet but then I only have 2.

Have had great luck with Ruger but took several returns to S&W to get a new revolver straightened out.

My CCH 357 left town tonight on its way back to Rice Lake. I will let you know what takes place.

Hopefully it will return better than new. At least you have other Henry's to shoot. Alaways a good thing.
