Re: Levergun shooting today.
All right the second one was a couple years later.
Was sitting in a tree, on a pretty breezy day, was kind of late in the morning.
A buck had just come up from behind me moving along at a good pace and never stopped.
So after that I turned around to see if I could see why he was moving so fast.
Nothing, after a few minutes I saw two does slipping along the edge of the ridge I was sitting on.
They were steadily getting closer, and I thought it would be sweet if I could get one with another pistol.
I'm watching one when I noticed the other was moving more uphill towards myself.
So I ease that 41 BH out of the shoulder holster, rested it over a limb and squeezed. All I remember was it was a 210 gr SWC.
Down she went, flopped around for a minute, but by the time I had crawled down and walked the 20-25 yds. it had expired.
Then Dec 7th '14 I shot a small 4 point with the Vaquero 44 mag., from about 20 yds.
I'd had the same deer walk right under my stand the Sun before and let him walk, no pistol that day, I had left it on the 4 wheeler.
This particular day I saw him step out in the field about a 100 yds. to the East.
And as luck would have it, he started towards me like I was calling him.
As he's steadily getting closer, I started thinking about the pistol.
Well sure enough he walks right out in front of me stops and drops his head to eat.
I lean over this big ole limb and pop one into his side and down he goes. This was with a 240 gr LFN, and a mild Unique load.

Re: Levergun shooting today.
Then last year during Muzzleloader/BP season I was out with the Renegade and the 1858 revolver.
Was late morning and I had been watching a doe and two little ones, actually I was videoing them.
Well the two little ones eased off out of sight, and all of a sudden she stops and looks hard to the east.
As I look towards the way she was looking I see another doe running up out of the woods and see that right behind is a buck.
So I put the camera down and pick up the rifle, the doe runs towards the one standing and that one leaves.
She standing probably 40 yds due north, and the buck is roughly 50 yds more to the East.
While is staring at the doe I start trying to get lined up on him.
In doing so I think, I have my finger on the set trigger.....
well that was not the case and I end up shootin over his back, the doe hauls it out of there.
The buck just stands there, looking back and forth towards where the doe was and at me.
So I can't reload as he's turnin back and forth, but I'm able to pick the revolver up off the floor of the blind.
While he is still trying to figure out what the heck just happened, I'm able to get the pistol up over the top of the blinds wall.
Rest on top, aim and shoot, he takes off but running kind of all leaned over so I knew he was hit.
Gave him a few minutes and started the search, he had run approximately 100 yds., was dead when I got to him.

Yes sir, I recovered the ball and it didn't lose much can't remember exactly. Here's the ball, found on the opposite side right under the skin.
