I Stand Corrected!

Post by Mistered » Mon Oct 21, 2019 3:56 pm

Well I previously criticized Henry for using rolled steel as opposed to solid, drawn tubing for mag tubes and I retract my criticism!

While cleaning my 119 year old Winchester over the weekend I noticed near the forward end of the mag tube what appeared to be a small, horizontal crack at the hole where the tube end plug screw goes through and into a small recess on the underside of the barrel.

Well, a closer examination revealed it is not a crack but a slight separation in the SEAM of the mag tube. It appears Winchester also used rolled tubing for mag tubes as well. I will admit the seam is tighter than Henrys, finished nicely and hard to see but it is still a seam.
