first, I am a Hickok fan .... that said, this wasn't one of his better videos .... the basic premise was he liked them both which, of course, is fine .... I did find it interesting that he praised a new Marlin .... for me it was good to see that he liked the Buckhorn sights on both

I haven't watched this yet but I will. With of course a bias. After dealing with Remington on a customer service issue they would not honor I will not ever buy another Remington again. YMMV

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Yes. I understand. Marlin does seem to have room for improvement. I found it interesting that he found Henry's side gate action almost identical to Marlin's, which Marlin has been using for years. I guess there are only so many ways to create an action. But, it is not surprising that Henry would have a decent product. I guess Marlin is doing better also. So far, I have been happy with both.

Henry must have made some adaption(s) to the Marlin action to accommodate the loading tube ... hopefully we will soon get to see it

It stands to reason considering Henry largely in part copied Marlin's action - and most likely the Side gate as well.

Don't see me buying any newer Marlin made by Remington, EVER.
Any more Marlins here will be like the others here, with the JM barrel stamp.
Now as for Henry, if they decide to make the side gate rifles in a Blued or Case colored 35, I could see me laying out money for one.
I have 5 30-30's now, 2 Winchesters, and 3 Marlins, and 3 35's, a pair of Marlins and a Savage pump.

Ditto this^

I did look at a new Marlin 'Texan' a while back (not interested in buying just look-seein!) and I'll admit it was not too bad at all.
Very nice fit and finish and smooth action.

The next JM .357 I see up for sale (that is close enough to go get) I'll be taking!

I'm in the same boat as Vaquero, wanting to see a Henry side gate in blued or CCH.

I just bought a Marlin 336W .30-30. I also have a Henry H001. I've always wanted a side loader and would have bought a Henry if it wasn't so expensive. The Marlin was a few hundred dollars less than the Henry. So now I have both.
