I just bought a Marlin 336W .30-30. I also have a Henry H001. I've always wanted a side loader and would have bought a Henry if it wasn't so expensive. The Marlin was a few hundred dollars less than the Henry. So now I have both.
I have a 336W. No complaints.

The next JM .357 I see up for sale (that is close enough to go get) I'll be taking!
I looked for a JM. Get tired of looking (none close by). So, new was the next best for me. So far, I am happy. But, I don't have too many to compare it to. Shoots all .38 and .357 that I have thrown at it fine. And, it has not jammed yet (after around 125 rounds or so). I guess, I am just getting it broken-in though.

I had a Marlin 336 in .30-30, Jm stamped, but I sold it to my little brother when I found something I liked better.
My other brothers wife asked my for help choosing a lever gun for my middle brother.
After a few questions I determined she was looking for a .30-30, so my thoughts immediately went to the Marlin.
Well, she wanted something new, and at the time there were none to be found.

I Googled .30-30 lever and came up with a hit for the new (at the time) Mossberg model 464 in .30-30.
It has a beautiful laminate stock and the marine finish.
I told her he would like this gun.
When it arrived my FFL called me to tell me it was in.
I picked up that new Mossberg and shouldered it.
I worked the action, then pulled the trigger.

I then turned to my FFL and told him to order the same rifle again, this time for me.
I sold my Marlin to my little brother the day I picked up the Mossberg and I couldn't be happier with my choice.
Both brothers really like theirs as well.

When I was thinking about starting to deer hunt (2016), I looked for a Marlin or Mossberg in 30-30, mainly because of cost. I did not want to buy a rifle and decide that I was not crazy about hunting deer. The LGS had a Marlin 336W with scope in stock. When I shouldered it, I did not want to give it back. So, it has a new home now. So far, I still haven't went hunting yet (maybe this season). But, I have purchased two rifles since then. Someone mentioned that after I bought my 336W, they seem to multiply. I did not realize that it may be in various brands (or flavors). :)
