Henry Rifles @ Walmart

Post by Joe.45 » Thu Jan 17, 2019 12:31 am

There are 9 Super Walmarts in a 40 mile radius of my house. Yes, 9. All of them sell ammo but Only 3 of them sell, or used to sell, long guns. I haven’t been there in a while. I even remember seeing a couple of Henrys .22 H001 in the Cooper City Walmart about 3 years ago.
My question is: have any of you seen a Henry Rifle for sale in your local Walmart?
For now, Dick’s and Accademy still carry them (22s only)

I saw 3 today at my local Walmart. Don't really know what models, as there was no attendant around. From what I could tell...a couple H001's I think and maybe a BBB, could not tell what caliber though. Western North Carolina store.

All the Walmarts I have been to in the DFW area sell long guns and most of them sell Henry. Vastly overpriced if you know how to shop around, but they are there.

Interesting, here in Florida, Accademy has the best price on the H004 $399. The even beat out tombstone tactical $429

Local Walmart has a small selection of long guns, I've seen some Henrys there, I bought my AR there. All my other gun purchases are made at a local independent store, they sell just about everything but groceries. I've said that between Stans, Fred Meyer and an occasional trip to Lowes or Coastal I don't need to shop anywhere else, of course that doesn't count Amazon.

Four Wally-Worlds w/in 1 hour from my house. Only one has Henrys for sale, and it's less than 10 miles from me. Haven't checked prices, but last visit saw both some rimfires and centerfires.

BTW, I don't know if yet mentioned, Joe.

My observation is, the more rurual the WalMart, the higher the Henry population in the store. Pricing ranges from simply overpriced to "reasonable," but there seems to be no rhyme or reason to their pricing strategy. A buddy of mine somewhat in the sticks in NE sent me a pic of his WM rack, with a pretty nice array of Henrys, 357 BBB, Steel, 22s, etc.

We have 2 Walmarts here one does sell long guns and the other doesnt. There is Henrys at the one both centerfire and rimfire. I havent really paid attention to the pricing as Im not real fond of Walmart for many reasons. I also wonder if it has anything to do with store manager and gun dept people as to whether they carry guns or not.

I bought a Henry Golden Boy at our local Walmart here in the Shenandoah Valley a couple years back for $399, which I thought was a decent price. They presently have three Henry's on the rack - two rimfires and a BigBoy. I have found that Walmart usually beats all the local gun stores for guns and ammo prices. You can also order a Henry from their Special Order Catalog. The downside with Walmart is usually the customer service - some of their people who man the gun counter don't know much about guns and there are some wierd rules they have to follow when selling a firearm...
