When Henry pride showed the same product, I ordered it from them. I like the design of Carlson's version, and, so far, mine haven't bent, but the rifles haven't been shot all that much, either. For sure, I'll be specifying the new steel model next time. It's good to hear Henry will replace 'em if they fail, too.
Thanks to ESquared for getting right on it. And that extra extender needs a rifle to fit it. ;) (I've justified getting one for less than that :) )
Nice, Yornoc! I agree, and I'm sure it would fit a 45LC, but I'd all but vowed not to put a scope on it. Never say Never, I guess. Or "Always be prepared" or some other enabling saying would work.

I'm kind of surprised Carlson's went down the path of trying to make them out of aluminum in the first place. It's not like they're new in the business of making hammer extenders. Head-scratcher!

Just had to chuckle when all THREE hammer extenders - two replacements from Henry and the new one I ordered from MagTec - showed up on the same day! When it rains, it pours!

This morning, while I was waiting for it to warm up a bit (It was -17 f) to move a little snow, I took my single shot .243 out, dry fired it on a snap cap, and the Hammer extender, a Henry (by Carlson) aluminum version, fell off. It was very slightly bent, and bent more when I tried to replace it. So I sent off an E-Mail to Henry, and, within 2 hours, had a response that a new steel one is on the way. Hard to beat that for customer service :) . What I find odd is that the same model on my 45-70 is fine, so far. It's been fired a lot more than the 15 or so rounds through the .243, along with about 20 on the snap cap, to smooth a little gritty feel from an otherwise good trigger. For whatever it's worth, I prefer the Carlson design to the one side type, so I'm glad they went to steel models.

Sorry I'm so late to this party, but I've tried two brands (Uncle Mike and GrovTec) on both a Henry BBS 357 and a Marlin 1894 (also 357). Even with blue loctite, I cannot get a hammer extender to remain attached on any of these four combintations after about 50 rounds. I've considered filling the set screw side with JB Weld and then drill/tap to get more threads in contact, but I'm concerned the extra weight might lead to light primer strikes. Before I go that route, anybody have another suggestion for keeping these things attached?
