Interesting stat. I would like to see it broken down to a per capita by state, though.

I have seen this before and it never really made sense - i.e. - what is a "registered gun"? There is no requirement to register firearms in most states. Additionally, the number of total firearms in the U.S. has been estimated by numerous sources at over 300 million - the totals in this study don't add up to anywhere near that number....

Those numbers don't seem to make sense to me at all, just my opinion.

I just cannot believe those statistics.

It shows Illinois with 52,527 firearms. The gang members in Chicago probably have more than that.

I seriously doubt anyone could accurately determine how many firearms each state has.

I can agree. The numbers may not be straightforward. As one author put it, the numbers can be viewed many ways and hard to verified. I just view it as a gauge of our Country. Kind of gives an idea of which citizens are open to firearms.
