Henry Case

Post by JayZuv » Thu Nov 29, 2018 11:01 am

Over the summer I decided to make a project of building a case for my Henry’s. Thought I’d show y’all how it turned out! I’m by no means a woodworker and this is my first attempt at anything like it. But here it is!

Beautiful work! Looks very heavy duty and very protective as well. More details would be welcome, from one amateur wood-worker (to use the term very loosely) to another. Did you cut foam, what's the fabric, is there a handle, etc.? Stuff like that.

Thanks for sharing

Thanks you! I’d be happy to. So for the case itself I used walnut and I believe maple (can’t quite remember now). On the inside I bought some cheap mattress foam and cut it to fit, then I laid a crushed velvet fabric over the foam and just used some spray adhesive to secure it to the foam. These photos are before it was totally complete so now it has brass latches and a brass handle on the front. However, it is veryyyyy heavy so it is used moreso as a display case. Not perfect, but I thought my Henry’s needed a nice place to sit rather than just to hang on the gun rack

I figured it wasn't exactly a "Range Tote," based on the looks of it, but great for storage at home. Post up another pic or two of the finished product. I wouldn't be the only one who'd appreciate seeing how it all turned out!

Nice job!

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Very nice. I made a custom case in black cherry last year... I was very pleased, but rarely use it, keeping them racked in the safe.
