shot the mag tube right out of the rifle!

Ok I am new to Henry's and am not sure what caused this to happen. I bought this rifle a few weeks ago and have enjoyed shooting it with Winchester White box ammo. I have gotten fairly good out to about 120 yds with iron sights and am very pleased with this rifle.

something happened yesterday when I was shooting it. when I went to eject a round it jammed. I opened the end of the mag tube and dumped the ammo and got the jam out of the receiver. what I noticed is that the mag tube was clearly 2-3 inches forward of the muzzle of the barrel and the mag tube clearly scratched the blueing off.

I am familiar with my Marlins and seems the mag tube is secured by a forearm (front band) screw and the mag tube is notched. I have not taken this rifle apart yet to clean so I cannot say how these are secured. What could have caused this problem?

I will post pics tomorrow and yes I have already contacted henry Customer service waiting on a reply.

this is a Big Boy Brass in 44 mag H006

Contact Henry is a good call. I recall such a thing happen with someone on this forum that had an All Weather. As I recall, Henry replaced the tube with one that had a longer pin.

does the small pin in the hanger hold the mag tube in? looked to be in place but maybe it is broken as I have not tried to do anything just yet as I just got home late last night. will get photos and post here and send to Henry.

It is a shame as I was just getting a hang of shooting this thing. went from 1 out of 6 on a 3 inch steel target off hand at 120 yds to 4 out of 6 with some practice.

here some pics. I pushed the mag tube back into place in the field and it seems tight and cannot get it to move back out. But you can see the scratches on the mag tube. The pin looks suspect but cannot say I ever looked at it that closely.

I am not much of a photographer but here are the pics of the damage on the mag tube. The pin looks proud on one side but is that enough to let the tube move forward? It kind of looks like the pin is broken.

I know how a bit about what you feel about having to send your Henry back, one of ours is with them in Rice Lake as this is being typed .... from the pictures, I firmly believe you are doing the right thing .... she'll be back and you can once again send rounds down the range .... at least, that's what I keep telling myself ...

yup I was getting enough confidence to take it to the field hunting for the rest of the season. Maybe next year,
