So can I. I wonder, though. Was your CCW permit free or was there some fee?

CT is not inexpensive; it wouldn't make anyone's list of the top twenty. I hope you find what you're looking for and enjoy it.

I dunno…33 posts, 4 web pages (on my screen). But it appears that only the first page dealt with "Lever Guns Viable Option." Maybe I'm missing something? :?

our threads often wander around a bit .... kind of like a group of friends sitting around a campfire .... so long as the discussion conforms to our community standards, all's good

I've always had nostalgia for the North East, NE of New York anyways. Inexpensive is relative to where I'm currently at. For a generalized comparison, except for entertainment, Hartford is less expensive. I suspect further out from Hartford, more rural, even more so less expensive.

Yup. You understand it correctly.

To obtain a CT pistol permit requires education, passing written and practical tests, and an FBI background check with fingerprints. Permits are issued for five years and can be renewed without any further requirements (mine expires in December).

To be clear, though, anyone in CT can own a firearm (by inheritance or other legal means as per the 2nd amendment), but it may not leave the owner's home and the owner cannot purchase ammunition for it without proper credentials. For me to purchase ammunition online, all vendors require a copy of my CT permit and a copy of my driver's license; even then, there are some vendors who won't sell ammunition to CT residents, at all.

An FFL is required to purchase firearms. However, I can walk into any LGS (FFL) and walk out with a newly purchased firearm. No waiting period. The LGS simply contacts the State Police to get a verification number for the paperwork. Transfers between individuals are done the same way. Paperwork is completed, the State Police are contacted for the approval, and the firearm can be transferred.
Okay. Without a permit, one can own a firearm by inheritance (or other legal means [???]) but can not purchase one from a dealer or ammo. Since a firearm is useless without ammo, can one buy the items for reloads without a permit? I understand the concern for safety. It seems prohibitive though. Plus, it appears a profit is being made in the process.

Well, it is usable. But, I guess target practice is not an option, unless one has their own land to shoot on, without a permit.
