A pump action Mare's Leg would be more practical than a lever action but Josh Randall carried a lever.

Honestly they should be making mares legs outta all there lever guns, some rifle caliber pistols would be nice. Pretty much anything they have can be pistolified with little work or redesign at all and they could run the gambit from affordable plinkers to expensive collectors pieces and everywhere in between. I mean how cool would a mares leg long ranger in .223 be, or a single shot break pistol with a proper pistol grip?

An especially good idea would be to take the .410 lever gun and create something similar to the Mossberg Shockwave, a 26.5 inch non nfa "firearm" would make for a neat pseudo mares leg. Pretty useful as well by my measure of pistol grip .410's.

I made a Mare's Leg out of a 10/22 (Charger to make it legal). It was simple and very practical.

How about single shot centerfire bolt rifles? You could do rifle and revolver calibers and big game calibers no problemo. Bonus is that it ejects the cartridge.

Not my gun, but a 44-40 pump mares leg. These would be great for modern centerfire revolver rounds.

Two of them are in .22WMR which Henry did not make when I built them. I may repost the process in the next few days.
