I hope you get good use from your garden gun Mark. They are what they are and not what they are not, and now you know what I mean by that.

Mark, back when primers were relatively cheap and plentiful, ;)
I would load 38 spl cases with about a 1.5 grs of unique, cut thin pieces of cardboard using an empty case.
Put the powder in, a piece of cardboard a little bit of rice, and top it with another piece of cb.
Fun out of a 6" revolver. :o  ;)

I took my garden gun out yesterday on a trip up to the barn. This thread had stuck in my head and the blue skies and full sun made me remember to take the Henry. I also had only two lag bolts to find and bring back to the house so it made carrying the shotgun simple up and back.
I found nothing that I needed it for, but I did check in and around the area.

It's always best to be prepared!

Mark and anyone else interested, I patterned the garden gun from five yards. Here is my target. Disregard the .177 caliber pellet holes.

That's a beautiful gun. How does it cycle?

I've got an old Ithaca Model 66 .410 that my grandfather bought for me around 1971. I never thought about shooting rifled slugs through it. I have some that have small disks and other crazy stuff but slugs would be cool.

I've never seen them but I think they would be cool.

Kram, the gun cycles wonderfully. I've fed it the crimped Winchester shells and the plastic domed CCI brand. Neither had a single issue.

As for .410 slugs, they are pretty tough to find. I ordered some on the internet many years ago. I've only shot two as far as I remember. They were accurate at the 35 yard range I shot them at out of a single shot H&R shotgun. I think the choke was modified, but I can't say 100%.
