45-70 Threaded Barrel.

Post by Bosn » Sat May 30, 2020 11:30 am

First post but I have been reading a lot and thanks to everyone for the advice and insight to Henry owners. I ordered a 45-70 ss and expect it to arrive this week. Based on everything that I have read, I went ahead and ordered the trigger spring. I am curious to know if anyone has threaded a barrel, particularly the 45-70. I use a can on almost all of my rifles and thought about having this one threaded when it gets here. Thanks in advance.

first and most importantly, welcome to our forum, delighted to have you join us .... do hope you will feel free to read and post often .... if by "ss" you mean a single shot, any competent gunsmith should be able to advise you about threading the barrel .... if "ss" happens to mean stainless steel, threading the barrel may be possible but would complicate the use of the rifles loading tube .... looking forward to hearing about and hopefully seeing pictures of your new Henry

Thank you very much, and yes, I meant single shot. I will let you know how it goes. It should be here Tuesday and I'll drop it off at the gunsmith same day.
