Octagonal barrel

Post by Hidden Mortimer » Mon Apr 06, 2020 5:17 am

So I put a suggestion in Henry’s suggestion box for the brass models to be made with octagonal barrels. I wonder why they didn’t do that from the get go since all other brass models have them. Is it because they are single shots and it’s impossible to do in a break action? What do you all think?

Wonder why they haven't, shouldn't be any different.
But I hadn't paid attention, but I'm not a single shot kinda guy.

Im sure there was a cost factor that entered into that idea. I dont think the Single Shot brass models have sold all that well and they were only made in limited calibers.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

The cost factor, and they'd be heavier than the brass models already are, but I'd still like to see a half round/half octagonal option, too. Maybe with a case hardened receiver as well. We single shot fans are a little loony, as we all know ;) .

A case hardened receiver would be awesome. Even better than a brass one. Man if only Henry would listen on that one. I mean it makes perfect sense. All other models have case hardened rifles. Why not the single shots also? Then an octagonal barrel, a straight stock and we would be set.

Kind of what I had thought also.

There is a certain nostalgic appeal to a brass receiver on a lever action but brass on a SS rifle is an odd combination and appears out of place.

CCH with octogon barrel, somehow add a folding receiver sight, slightly longer stock, I would order one!
