44 mag. ss, ammo

Post by winchester37 » Wed Feb 26, 2020 10:20 am

browsing ammo for a ss 44 mag and looked at the new 'Hammer down' ammo from Federal. Anybody else notice the listed velocity of the ammo is 1715 FPS, about 300-400 FPS above any other Federal factory load. Seems hot. Henry customer service says it will be ok to shoot in the ss, although developed for the lever guns. As soon as I can get some I will try and report on it.

That's moving along for a .44 Mag 270 gr. bullet going 1700 FPS. ! Now the .45 Colt with a 250 gr. bullet going only 1400 out the rifle not so special.
I have 250 gr. XTP going 1100+ out of my 2.5 inch Ruger Alaskan.
Thanks for posting that info !
