Single Shot Number 6
I just ordered my first Henry single shot in .44 mag. and an EGW Picatinny rail for it. I have a Leupold 2.5x20 and thought that would make a good match for this rifle. Although this is my first Henry single shot, I have a feeling it may not be my last. I was really sorry to see H&R close down as I had always been a fan of their single shot rifles. I have a .22 mag. NEF rifle, a .45-70 H&R carbine and a 16.5" barreled H&R .500 S&W which is a hoot to shoot with 440 gr. handloads. I also have two Ruger Number 1 rifles, one also in .44 mag. and the other in .30-06. Leverguns and single shots are by far my favorite rifles.

Always nice to hear from another single shot fan. Yes, definitely let us know how the new Henry shoots.

It was unfortunate Freedom Group pulled the plug on H&R/NEF.
I found a nice older, NEF SB2 in .223 with a HB a couple years before this happened and the popular calibers are really drying up now.
My next was going to be a .357 and they are now 'unobtanium' however I am holding out hope one shows up someday!

Many H&R .357 Handi owners reamed out the chamber, easily done, and made them a .357 Maximum. I was wondering if anyone has tried that with the Henry single shot yet.Mistered wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 5:39 pmIt was unfortunate Freedom Group pulled the plug on H&R/NEF.

Yep - read of this often. Many H&R .357 Handi owners reamed out the chamber, easily done, and made them a .357 Maximum.
Heck I'll be happy to simply find one in .357 Mag standard!

I would think that reaming the chamber or any other alteration would mean that H.R.A. would no longer be liable for any repairs to the rifle. Is it really worth it?

That will be up to the owner to decide. Is it really worth it?
Some people will prefer to be 'on the hook' with Henry for life and for some it's probably no concern as they are accustomed to performing their own repairs so loss of factory support is no consequence.
