Bear
I had read this also on another forum where one member claimed that the bolt was pushing the spring in farther creating this. He never did like you have and posted back with what he did. This is a good idea and more food for thought for some who have found that changing the spring to a lighter one didn't work.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Great job. Well done!

I have the 30-30 single shot and ended up letting my gunsmith work on the trigger. The end result was a 5 lb pull with the stock hammer spring. There’s little to no slop, pretty much wall - bang. I plan to finish dialing mine in for deer season this weekend.

Enjoy those single shots and be safe. Thanks for sharing!

Great post. Thanks for the info. I was going to take mine apart this weekend just to polish up the wood, but now it looks like I have a few other things to check out as well ;) .

I added a 7/16 spacer to the 308 and it brought the trigger down to 3 1/2 lbs. I like it. However, the 223 is now again a full pound heavier. I disassembled the 223 and polished the trigger and sear again but this time used 600 grit then 1500 grit and finally polished with the Dremel. I am very happy to report both guns weigh in with a 3 1/2 trigger pull with the factory springs. I will post my shooting results when I return from the range. Probably in a week. To hot here at 95 with 100% humidity.
