No I havent tried any of those yet. Im really just playing with what I have in bullets which is 125grhp Montana gold bullets and some Xtreme 158 grfp bullets. I may try some of those later but I think my next order for 357 bullets is going to be some of the zero bullets from Roze Distribution.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I believe you will find the Roze Distribution bullets perform on a range as well as most any other JHP or JSP bullets

The 30-30, after all, has been a traditional favorite in break open single shots for many, many years.
Yep - and now one of the most sought after calibers in the NEF line of 'Handi-Rifles - right after .357.
I always kept an eye out for one of each but now its nearly impossible since Freedom Group dropped the line in 2015.
Probably In 3rd place are the Handi-Rifles in .22 centerfire calibers and I was able to find one in .223 Remington a few years ago and even these are really 'drying up' now.

At least part of the reason I jumped on the Henry 30-30 single shot when it was offered is that the first rifle I hunted deer with, at age 12, was a H&R Topper 30-30. It accounted for a few deer in my hands and then passed down to younger brothers, cousins, etc. throughout the family. So the Henry will "replace" it, and it's gonna be a whole 'nother level nicer :) , albeit the Topper did have Walnut furniture, along with an interchangeable 20 ga. barrel.

I don't plan to reload for it, I expect the Hornady FTX Leverevolution 160 grain loads to do what I'll expect of it, and I still have a bunch of Win. 170 grain Silvertips to try, too. I still have a couple other 30-30's in the vault ;) .

Well it arrived in Rice Lake today. Ironic, I know, because it was made about 10 blocks from the dealer that I'll buy it from. It may have traveled to a distributor first, then was sent back, or maybe it just was dropped off by someone from the plant on the way home ;) . Anyway, I'm not going to get it today  because its already well below zero, windy, and the store is closing early due to the weather (-20 f, -50 wind chill). Not tomorrow, either, it's forecast to be colder, but a little less windy (-30 f for a low, don't ask about the wind chill). Forecast of -34 for Thursday morning :( . Maybe on Friday, and it's forecast to be 35 f above Saturday :? . When you don't like the weather in NW WI, just wait a bit.

I picked up the 30-30 today. This is a new model, made September 2, with the relocated scope mount screws, and the forearm having two checkering panels, instead of the full wrap around of the early models. The wood is good, nice straight grain, good color, but not as fancy as my other two. I have been unusually lucky in the nice wood lottery, so no complaints ;), it's still better than most, and the fit and finish remains really good. As I expected, the trigger is heavy, about the weight of the rifle. Thanks to tractortad, help is on the way for that little problem :) .

edit: corrected the date of manufacture

Thanks, guys. I plan to replace the trigger spring, then replace my right knee, so it'll be a while before I get to do much with it. It kinda looks like a "stock photo", nothing particularly photogenic with the wood. When I get it set up, I'll do a photo of the team.
