I’m sending the barrel on tomorrow to have it rechambered to 357 Maximum. Looking forward to getting it back.

I emailed Henry toady about the fit of the recoil pad. They will not install another one but they are sending me a new stock. I know it won’t look like the one I have but maybe I can swap the pads for a better fit. If not, I will grind a new recoil pad to fit it.

I find that interesting. Usually. you see recoil pads a little proud to the stock, if anything, so Henry's stocks being slightly proud to the recoil pad has struck me as a little odd, albeit mine are so close it doesn't bother me (much). Henry sending a new stock strikes me as a more costly alternative, considering that their Walnut tends to be pretty nice, than correcting the dimensions of their recoil pads, or reprogramming the robots that carve the stocks. I'd keep that nice stock for your next Henry single shot ;).

I got my 357 Max barrel back and installed. I shot it 3 times to check the new spring I installed with no problems. I still have a little PT to go before I can sight it in and it is supposed to rain for the next 4 days. I also received my new wood from Henry to replace the poorly installed recoil pad. They did good, it is almost as nice a piece of wood as the original and they sent me a forearm too.

Pretty nice wood there, and they threw in a marching forearm to boot. That's impressive. I remember paying extra for "semi-fancy" wood when buying a stock blank years ago, and it wasn't that nice. Henry has a lock on some really nice wood. I'm looking forward to hearing about the .357 Maximum when you get 'er going.

Really nice project you have going and VERY nice wood!!!
I can't imagine shooting the .357 Max in a revolver...ouch! But I used to own a .45-70 BFR.
