Stock Warning

Message sent to Anthony with pics. Also included the issue I had when they replaced my 20 gauge cracked stock with the wrong butt stock the first time. They put on a butt stock with the sling attachment and sent it back to me. I sent it back and they put the right butt stock on. What was I suppose to do with only one sling attachment anyway?

I am surprise Henry just did not send you a new stock. When I contacted Marlin (a year or so ago) about a finish issue on my forearm, I was sent a forearm and a stock. It was birch not walnut though. But, a split stock can not be reused. So, why would Henry worry about it? Unless, a repair job with wood glue and filler was an option. I guess it could be reasonable for a hairline crack?

They are always fast, it seems to me. I received some swag stuff just for checking in, while patiently waiting for the later than predicted arrival of my single shot 45-70, ordered in April 2016, when they first came out. When I needed a replacement (new model) lever for my NIB "old model" 30-30, it came in a couple days, and when I needed a replacement rear ghost ring sight to get it sighted in, they sent more parts than I needed, "just in case". Henry's customer service is second to none, alright.

Regarding other firearms companies packaging, I've noticed quite a few relatively inexpensive shotguns (CZ doubles, etc.) are now coming in plastic cases. When I bought some (via Gunbroker transactions, so shipping was involved) a few years ago, it was strictly cardboard boxes, similar to Henry's, albeit the shotguns were in taken down mode. Maybe that's in response to similar problems. Higher end guns have come in similar, no doubt nicer, cases like that for years.

one of our Henry rifles arrived back home today .... it was shipped to us in the boxes below .... one impact point can be seen on the heavy cardboard outer box ... no sign of that impact reaching the inner Henry box .... as can be seen, they also use sections of foam insulation to fill space

I wonder what the design flaw is that is causing these to crack. I was just about to break down and order a brass 45-70 but now I’ll just wait and see. Any ideas on the cause?
