New Henry single shot 223

Post by bandit1250 » Tue Jan 30, 2018 2:37 pm

My LGS got a new Henry single shot in today. I looked it over pretty good and the fit and finish is actually better than a few of the center fire lever guns on the rack. Nice looking wood and perfect checkering. Closes up really solid. I don't care for that tall front sight but it must need it that high or it wouldn't be there. If I was buying it would probably have a Leupold 4-12X40 AO sitting on top to take advantage of what the 223 is capable of. The price was $375 and I don't know if that is good or bad. I thought about maybe grabbing this one but I may just have the barrel set back on my big old Savage single shot bolt gun and rechamber it to 222 Remington. No ground hogs here any more so how many varmint guns do I need. :( I can paper punch with the 222 for half the powder and far less barrel wear. ;) :D

That's not a bad price, within $6.00 of what I paid, not counting tax. I've seen as low as $350 on line, but you have to add shipping and FFL fees to level the playing field. I've only seen one in person; I, too was impressed by the fit and finish. First I've heard of in a local gun shop that wasn't already spoken for ;) .

I'll second that, the H015's in any caliber are currently very difficult to find. Even the popular online sources appear to be out of stock and waiting for back orders. The few listed on GB disappear PDQ and some priced near MSRP.

My local dealer sells a lot of Henry's and usually has about a dozen on the rack in various models. He said today he has more Henry single shots coming soon. What ever they consider soon. ;)
