My single shot in 223 is probably even lighter at about 5 pounds.
Yep - and I suspect the Henry SS .223 is even heavier than my NEF so that is going to be one nice rifle to shoot!

As I recall, the 45-70 is the lightest listed weight of the single shots. It must be all the air in that big hole in the end of the barrel ;) . Mine came in real close to, but under, the specified weight of about 7lbs at 6 lbs 13.5 ozs., so that just over 7 lbs weight projected for the .223 should be close.

Nothing more than 3 shots to see how hard it kicks (not bad at all, about like a SxS 20 ga.). I'm waiting for warmer weather and less snow to dig out my bench to see what it'll do. And though I'm still sorta considering peep sights, it'll likely be a low power scope. Once I get it ready, I'll be champing at the bit to shoot for real.
