Choosing The Best Deer Rifle

Post by JEBar » Wed Sep 26, 2018 2:00 pm

earlier today I received an email from Henry with a link to a video they have produced dealing with "Choosing The Best Deer Rifle - Hunt with a Henry" ====> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7Jqbp-5sWA .... it doesn't give any startling new info but does a pretty fair job of outlining the the capabilities of the deer hunting calibers Henry offers

Interesting that he skips over the .357 altogether.

"When in doubt, buy a 30-30" is hard to argue with.

of the calibers Henry offers, if I could only have 1 big game rifle, it would be a Long Ranger 308 .... that said, I'm glad I don't have to make such a choice

Of their choices I'd take a 35 Rem.
But I just don't want the brass receiver one.

RP

understood on both points .... the 35 is a good caliber ... with only having one, the 308 has a much longer range

If I need some distance, I have a Marlin 308 MX, or an old 1903 action 30-06. :D

understood .... we also have a308, 30-06 and can throw in a Weatherby 300 Mag ... my comment was made in answer to a question that if I could only have one Henry big game rifle which won would it be .... glad that I don't have to make such a choice under those circumstances

Well I'd still vote for the 35, as it will work pretty much every where I normally hunt.
