I think these are great for sighting in but, at least for me, have little use otherwise. I have a rest that's been in the bottom of my closet for years. The only time I bring it out is to sight in a rifle.

Some Folk here know I shoot better off hand than with any type of rifle rest. So I've never bought one, and when needed to sight in a rifle or shotgun, my son-in-law lent me one of his rests.

A couple of years ago he also made a rest for me out of scrap packing material. It is a similar hard porous rubber material the MDC uses for their range shooting boards. So in a pinch, I can let my SGC or MAW "rest easy" on this at a sight-in session.

It will stand on three different sides, and provide three different heights from a bench top: 12" or 6" or 4-1/4". Rear rest is "formed" by tucking in the butt plate to the shoulder, and holding the rifle still with left hand under the stock. None of this DIY set up is my thinking/planning. Just some good help from my son-in-law to get me over the challenge of bench rest shooting. Sometimes works -- sometimes doesn't.

It's a simple and inexpensive piece of firearms equipment. Following is what it looks like.
