Slip on recoil pad

Post by Mvanorman » Wed Aug 16, 2017 9:37 pm

I recently purchased a Henry 45-70 lever action. I reloaded many different recipes using a 350 grain bullet. I plan to use this firearm for hunting whitetail deer this fall. However when shooting at the range I would like to have a slip on recoil pad available. What options are out there to fit this model and what do people recommend?

I've been using a Past Magnum wearable shoulder pad lately. not bad for range use.

Plus one on the Past shoulder rig, though I find it a bit awkward to use for bench shooting. For offhand work, though, works very well.

For bench shooting with the big kickerss, I'll often just use sissy bag, a small sand bag placed between the stock and my shoulder.

I got a slip-on recoil pad for my 45-70. Works great for dampening recoil but it kept sliding off center. A picture of tratortad's Marlin 1895cba with a laced up recoil pad gave me an idea.

This is the second try. It has held for two rang sessions and about 70 rounds.

I just picked up a Limbsaver recoil pad at Wally world for my brass 45/70. They had 2 sizes. One labeled small/med. And one labeled medium. I bought the med. It fit real well and clears the stud for the sling swivel. I haven't used it yet but it seems like it will work fine.

I have one called shooters friend. I think I got it at Cabelas. It just slips over the butt. Its made of a latex type material but it sure worked good on the 45-100 Sharps rifle. Al

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I got the Pachmayr Decelerator size medium. Slips right over the original pad on my H010AW and it adds about an inch to the stock that I needed. I haven't actually used it yet but it seems to stay in place ok.
