Same river

I read a line in a book today that struck me as true. "You can never step into the same river twice". The simple truth is obvious. The deeper truth, not so much.

All of our lives are in a constant flux. I have fished a certain spot in the South Platte many times. On a particular night, trying to learn if the big browns feed then, I went to a spot I have fished many times.

That night, due to fog and a feeling of uneasiness, I did not know my way. I was not in the arena of comfort known to me.

Taking this to daily life, I can only say that I learn that nothing stays the same. Life is always new. You can only be ready with skill and experience to go forward.

In life, be ready. I know, profound crap, huh?

Yes it is profound and when we get to my age it is ever so apparent. If I've learned nothing else in my almost 70 years, it's that nothing stays the same. Great post. Thank-you.

Maybe we could share a raft someday. I know the feeling of finding peace in the river. Not that I would let you catch more fish. Lol

BigAl,
I hope that you will use cast iron cookware to cook those fish!!!!

Food seems to taste better when cooked on cast iron stuff.

I will cast & catch, you will do the cooking and I will clean up afterwards. How's that??

I had a buddy when I was a teen who was raised up by hippies in a commune. He was always saying Zen cr... Bullsh... Ah... Stuff. Every now and then, something would really strike true.

After a particularly great day, one of the group sighed contentedly as we watched the sun set over the river and said... "Man oh man, we gotta do this again, and soon."

Hippie Boy just grinned.

"We can't you know. Do THIS again. THIS is done. We can do something similar, but THIS, THIS, is done.". He grinned wisely.

We thought about it for a few minutes, then agreed, he was right.

Then tossed his wise a$$ in the River.
