I am not an expert fly tyer or expert at fishing but I enjoy doing both.
A few years ago I was browsing the internet and stumbled upon this fly. It is called Jon's Generic.

I am an avid seeker of panfish and I catch most of them on this fly. The hook rides up when fishing it so it does not snag easily and most fish are hooked in the upper lip. I personally have caught bluegill, redear, bass, catfish, freshwater drum, and trout on this fly. I always use a #12 hook as described. Sometimes I use red fingernail polish instead of clear for the head cement.
Just thought I would share my favorite fly with you all.
Spring has sprung. Get out and shoot your Henry

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

Haven't fly fished in years.

That is a good fly. My son and I use one similar tied from white feather with some flash. It produces well in warm water streams and ponds we fish in. You can add a bit of weight and fish it deep or not for shallow presintations.
