Got to fish this weekend

Post by daytime dave » Tue Jul 25, 2017 7:35 am

I was able to fish a bit this past weekend at camp.

Saturday morning, I took the neighbors son fishing with me in the canoe. He really likes fishing. He is from a large city in Switzerland and not able to fish there. We went to a pond I like and had it all to ourselves. We spent 6 hrs on the water. The water was warm, so we rigged for deeper water and finally hit into them.

I went out by myself the next day on the lake. I took the motorboat and fished a favorite bay. I tried a different approach as the lakes water was pretty warm too. I anchored and did a 360 all around the boat. Since I was by myself, it was pretty easy. I got a couple.

I can't identify the first fish. If anyone can, please let me know what it is.

Dave, I think that is a Drum. May be spelled drumb.

We'd catch those in the CT River and always called it a white bass.

Dave, glad you got out and also that you took a youngster with you. Good for you.

That Smallie is my favorite, though we only see one, now and then, in our lake. Most of the time, it's Largemouths.

I eat the smallies. This one was headed to the rest of the batch with the neighbors, but they didn't want anymore. I let them go at the dock from the live well.

I'll try them next time I catch one.
