Birthday shoot!

Post by PJM » Mon Sep 21, 2020 2:11 pm

Spent the afternoon on the bench with son and grandson! Shot some bp, .44mag, .22 and .35 rem. Really pleased with new trigger upgrade on ss 44 mag (see attached 3 shot group). Today is a gun clean and reloading day.

Sounds like a fun outing. Nicely done. Your birthday? If so, happy BD.

Yes it was my 74th but not counting. Thanks for the bd wish. Got some great gun cases and new hunting clothes. The old stuff was getting a little snug. The .44 mag is a single shot and is fast becoming my favorite. My wish gun is a manlicher stocked Ruger 1 in any deer caliber. They keep adding and dropping calibers. This year it is offered in 257 Robert's. Maybe next year.

I have had several Ruger No 1s, but none of them with that full stock, but the full stock is the one I've always wanted. The 257 is an amazing cartridge, but the way, but it's very much a bandleader's cartridge, now.

Your comments made me look at the ballistics. A real flat shooter. Looks like a caliber for antelope at greater distances. Not sure if too light for whitetails. Probably a few have been taken with this caliber and the right bullet.

Great way to enjoy your 74 years! Thanks for pointing out the Single Shot rifle. I see SS and think stainless steel because of my revolvers.
