Started Independence Day early Saturday with my son. It was rimfire day. He brought his Ruger SR22 (nice little pistol) and, of course his 16 year old Henry youth model with a Japanese Tasco 4X. Perfect pairing. I brought my new Ruger 10/22 Target (all stock except for a Kidd drop in trigger kit) and my decades old Ruger Mark II with an ultra dot that is nearly as old as the pistol. We got there at 7 AM. Had the range to ourselves.

Above are my Rugers. That Mark II has had tens of thousands of rounds through it. I used to have the red dot on my White .451 Whitetail Hunter (bad, bad deer medicine) but my old eyes don’t see a crisp dot anymore without my glasses so back on the Mark II it went. For our shooting I didn’t set the scope on the 10/22 higher than 4X. Gotta play fair.

We surely shot more than 40 rounds that Saturday with three hours of range time to ourselves, but I don’t want to post a hundred pics. These are the picks of the litter. I do know that young’un still loves that little Henry he got for his 10th Christmas - and boy can he shoot it. Actually he can shoot anything he gets his hands on. I’ve seen him pop a carpenter bee out of the air with a pellet gun. Anyway - we had a great morning and bunch of fun with a couple of rim fire rifles and pistols. It was a great start to the 4th of July.
