Hot Range test with .44 Special and Magnum...

Post by fortyshooter » Sat Jul 04, 2020 1:46 pm

Yes it was steamy out there this morning and first time I had shot anything in 3 wks. But put that Ruger .44 Special Flattop in my left hand
with a good load and magic happens! The load was the MB 240 gr.K bullet loaded over 5.0 gr. of Red Dot.

Since I liked how well Red Dot worked for my light target loads in 250 gr. 45 Colt I wanted to try same with .44 Special along with 6.0 gr. of it in .44 Magnum in my Henry 44 Carbine.

Due to the heat 90F with high humidity I made this trip short and didn't bother to open up the "Bullseye Saloon" for more fun shooting.

Anyway LOVED the nice tight pattern of the 5.0 gr. Red Dot load in center of target. They shot dead on at point of aim as compared to the lower
spread out bunch using same 240 gr MB bullet but with my 7.0 gr. of Unique. Don't know why I couldn't get a better group with those but same conditions....HOT! Revolver shooting distance 13 yds. standing and one handed shooting. Nice revolver it is!
The small cluster at very top of target were 6 rounds of the .44 Magnum using 6.0 of Red Dot with same 240 gr. bullet with the Henry Carbine.
Not bad from 25 yds. standing but have done better. Just wanted to try that load to see how it would hit.

So more shooting on a cooler day I hope!

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......
