Re: Chilly range
I've been shooting 200 grain SWCs over 4.5 of Trail Boss in my Springfield using stock recoil spring.
Recoil is substantially less than factory 230 grain FMJs. Accuracy is excellent.
What part of East Tennessee are you in? I used to live in Johnson City, many moons ago. I also have a lot of distant relatives just north of Chattanooga.

You're not far from Hampton, then. We ( Trousdale Co. ), played them in the high school semi finals back in 2005. I didn't get to make the trip, sick I believe. We beat them & went on to win the State Championship.dasmoeturhead wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 8:08 amIm up in Roan Mountain TN.clovishound wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 4:35 pmI've been shooting 200 grain SWCs over 4.5 of Trail Boss in my Springfield using stock recoil spring.

I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

Did you see that the Elizabethton TN Hurricanes Boys Football team were State Champs last year? Unbelievable. We were all pretty darn proud of them.Grunt67 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 11:03 amYou're not far from Hampton, then. We ( Trousdale Co. ), played them in the high school semi finals back in 2005. Yes I did. I keep a close eye on Elizabethton football. That's where Jason Witten went to school. Big fan of Jason, former tight end for Dallas. Dallas fan too. I'm proud of the Hurricanes. Indeed, small world. East Tn is a good place to be, nice country & folks.dasmoeturhead wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 11:23 amDid you see that the Elizabethton TN Hurricanes Boys Football team were State Champs last year? Thanks, dasmoe. The Jackets have quite a history. Won the State 10 times, 1922, 72, 90, 93, 97, 98, 05,08,09,13. Lost in State 2018, lost in semis 2019. Hoping for better times next year, LOL.dasmoeturhead wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 3:25 pmMeant to tell you congrats on your team winning state champs also. Yep! Hampton usually has a good team. Made some noise this past season, lost to somebody, don't recall who. IIRC, it was a 5hr. drive to Hampton.dasmoeturhead wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 5:52 pmHampton Bull Dogs. Hamptons down the road 10 miles.
