Hi Point .45 Carbine review!
Picked it up today and after just a bore clean up and a Ballistol seasoning headed to my range.
Wow was I impressed by a $270 buck carbine!!
I brought a box of Winchester 230 gr. factory ammo along with a couple boxes of my 230 Xtreme reloads using Unique and Power Pistol.
Only addition to the box stock Hi Point was my EOtech sight I slapped on...have had this sight for a few years just laying around.
The guys at the gun shop got a laugh when I brought along the EOtech to try it on....a $400+ dollar sight on a cheap carbine!
So to the range.... Took me only 4 two shot groups to get it sighted in using the EOTech XPS2 sight at 25 yds. which ended with
a nice 6 shot group...note the 4 shot ragged hole! Ammo was the Winchester factory 230 gr. hardball.
Have to mention as the test session went on the sun was becoming a glare problem trying to sight the target.
I then tried my two different reloads which were 230 Xtreme plated loaded over 6 gr. Unique and 7 gr. Power Pistol.
Results from 25-40 yds show this carbine loves the Unique loads...notice that ragged hole the shots made!!!
The Power Pistol loads gave a much wider group.
Very impressed with the performance of this "cheap" .45 ACP Carbine with no function issues when using stock 9 rd. and the 20 rd. magazine.
No loose screws or charging handle bolt and even the plastic sight rail held the EOTech in place!
So far after a short session of 75 rounds fired it was money well spent. More fun to come!!

Good review. Happy to hear a satisfied customer for the carbine. It is an important addition for any prepper. Please keep us posted.

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

when it comes to this style of firearm, I know next to nothing or even less ... one of our sons has a similar (if not the same) 45 that he thoroughly enjoys ... good to hear that yours performs well .... I'm impressed by the sight you installed and how quickly you were able to zero it

I bought the EOTech military sight back in 2011 for use on my BFR .45-70 revolver which I sold recently.JEBar wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2019 9:23 amwhen it comes to this style of firearm, I know next to nothing or even less ... one of our sons has a similar (if not the same) 45 that he thoroughly enjoys ... good to hear that yours performs well .... Last thing I mounted it on was my Remington 870 18 inch 12 ga. pump.
The Hi Point carbine seems to be a perfect sight for it and I can take it off quickly and use the iron sights.
A great little .45 ACP plinker and home defense gun.

Why is it not legal in NY? Barrel length? You can get it in other less frightening colors to make them happy!

I have one in 9mm on its way. Can't wait to get it. Will look into the EOtech site - might have to get one of those!!

Nice report Forty. I looked at those before I bought my Ruger PC in 9mm. I sure do like my 9 . Dont shoot it to much but when i do its alot of fun. Is the 20 round magazine one that Hi Point offers or an aftermarket one?

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......
