.
My guess would be it's a MSR with a pistol grip.
[update]
A bit of lookup. Looks like the attributes of the Hi Point meet New York's definition of an assault rifle.

I wish they were legal in NY that gun shoots good.
Why is it not legal in NY? Barrel length? You can get it in other less frightening colors to make them happy!

Nice report Forty. I looked at those before I bought my Ruger PC in 9mm. I sure do like my 9 . Dont shoot it to much but when i do its alot of fun. Is the 20 round magazine one that Hi Point offers or an aftermarket one?
The 20 round mag is made by Red Ball and is recommened by Hi Point as a good magazine to use.

I had looked at the PC carbine but no .45 ACP yet and the price point of the HP along with great functioning reviews
made my choice.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Yes you can if needed but the front sight is pictured at the very bottom of the sight's window and doesn't cause any problems.

Going to take it out again maybe this weekend for some more fun!

NY pistol grip is not legal on semi-autos with detachable magazines.

I bought that same carbine last year, but in 10mm.
Could not be happier with my decision.

Will it run with 40 S&W ammo. Did some searching on the net and there people saying it does.

Al,
To tell you the truth I hadn't even considered it.
I imagine it would run .40S&W, but I haven't tried.

Might need to try that sometime.
