Al, what base are you using with the TRS-25 on a Henry? Thanks again. Looks like I'll be going with the TRS-25 when I get back from a hunt next week.
Spring has sprung. Get out and shoot your Henry

I think Henry sells a picatinney mount for that gun. I don't have one on a big boy steel or brass but I do on my single shot. There are other members here that also have them on the steel. I think if you look in the scopes thread you will find some.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Yes there are red dots that provide different dot sizes and even different reticles. These start in the midprice range of around $100 and go up to over twice that for the best stuff. The Ultradot Matchdot series, for one, is highly regarded on the competition circuit.

Also as you have mentioned NCG with the right dot they can be used for longer ranges like 100 yards.North Country Gal wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2019 8:22 pmYes there are red dots that provide different dot sizes and even different reticles. Re: “Old eyes”
There are several members at our range who are outstanding shooters. Ruben, the octogenarian who produced the target that inspired me to start this thread, and his friend who is in his 70’s, engage in informal shooting contests almost every week Day morning. Their current activity is shooting .22 rifles with peep sights at smallish targets at 100 yards. Offhand, standing. They tape a ping pong ball on a piece of black card stock and stick it out on the fence. I can hit one pretty easily from a bench with a scope, but standing? It’s pretty impressive to watch them hit those things.
I tried from a bench with my AR-15 the other day using the open sights it came with. I got two shots close, but couldn’t hit it. I gave up and used my scoped Ruger 30-06 to finish it off.

Re: “Old eyes”
Been getting eye injections monthly for my RVO or macular degeneration. Seems like my vision is getting worse even though I go monthly. I can't hardly see anything out of my right eye today except for shadows and I don't go back until the 20th of January. I hope I can last a few more years before I can't function any longer. Sure is a pisser but I guess there's lots more people with problems larger than mine.
