Wild West Show comes to town, August 25th
Every now and then, Buffalo Bill passes by with his Wild West Show. Today was one of those days. I must be fortunate enough to live in one of those time warp regions of southwest Alberta...
Took my 1860 Henry and 1871 Colt Richards revolver to the show (ie range) today and entered up in the shooting contest. First prize was a bottle of snake oil elixir guaranteed to cure all.
Shooting glorious frontier 45 Colt., a box of Wolf Ammunition, 250 gr LFN.
This is 50 yds, shooting from 1 knee position. I really like shooting this way. Very natural to me. 12 rounds, open sights, pulling a little left...
Next up is 50 yds off hand standing, this was 14 rounds. I don't shoot much standing up, that 24" barrel gets heavy...we'll see how I make out with the new 1885 High Wall when it shows up...30" octagon
This is 50 yds from 1 knee, got it dialed in this time...14 rounds...I shoot odd amounts of rounds because I don't always load a full tube and compress the spring to max, so might load 7 + 7 or whatever suits me...
And finally, my revolver, shooting 1 hand at 15 yds...10 rounds, played a hand of poker while I was there...(Bandit got me hooked on card tricks)
Hope you enjoyed your day at the Wild West Show!

Thirty-five cents for a front row seat is a great bargain, RR.
Very much enjoyed the Show this quiet Sunday evening! Especially the great "card tricks" with the 1871 revolver at 15 yards. Definitely your strong suit
Will look forward to the next hand dealt...

Nice RR as always great shooting and First class presentation. You might be the Louis L'amour of the Henry rifle forum.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Another fine showing, RR, from the shooting to the staging to the photography. Thanks for sharing. Sorry I missed it. Would be great to see it in person some day. Maybe a Member Gathering in your neck of the woods is in order!

Congratulations on winning the well-aged snake oil, RR. I love your range reports for the artful photos and fun storytelling; and, of course, to see the results of your awesome shooting skill. Well done. Now, Back To The Ridiculous Future!

Ranch, we've been traveling and/or so busy catching up on projects before winter sets in that we've been putting our shooting on hold. Your post has been the best kind of wake up call to get back out and shoot. Your skill as both a shooter and a showman are a thing of envy. Thank-you so much.
