No kidding!^^^ Speaking of recoil, or the lack of, While at the range this past Wed, when Dennis was done with his 30-06, he fired my Henry's. He first thought the .357 was a .22! He couldn't believe it. Pretty much zero felt recoil. Gotta love those Henry's!

Many thanks to the KC Gang. The fellowship was better than you could ask. The shooting was educational and entertaining. I was able to shoot calibers of interest to me. 45-70?...yeah, no. 308?...yup. Evans 223 SS was exceptional.

Bobs pistols were excellent! What a joy to shoot. I confirmed what I might like about 45 Colt. Someday...

For now, a great wrap to an outstanding vacation.

I will put up some pics soon.

Nope, never had much difficulty at all with recoil. In fact, my most favorite long gun of all was my Benelli 12ga Nova Tactical pump shotgun. With that s/g, which I named Boom, I often "plinked" away with exclusively 1-oz. slugs. Enjoyed shooting Boom, and had the recoil well under control.

Gave up on long guns primarily due to sights set up and especially elder eye challenges.

I mentioned the "gentle" .44 RemMag recoil to encourage any Henry lovers that this carbine is a great-shooting Henry! :D

PT, like the other enablers I think if you got a .44 RemMag Henry and maybe got help from JEBar replicating his setup, you'd be overjoyed to be shooting a rifle again. To you own benefit points you made below. Especially "Not very noticeable recoil at all". Which if I remember correctly from your other posts is one of the big reasons you gave up on Long Rifles.

I'd like to follow up my Range Report with this comment to any Henry owners who have a .44 RemMag Henry. That is really a very, very nice caliber to shoot. Not very noticeable recoil at all. And the fact that the bullet can be carried and shot from a pardner revolver, for instance, makes this double-duty cartridge very appealing. I got a very small flavor as to why a number of you have wanted to acquire this caliber. It definitely is good stuff.

Jim, also thanks for your tutelage and patience. I will always listen to you. Safe and peaceful travels to you and Maureen. My favorite high school girl friends name. God Bless and protect you. Later.

Sheesh! This second target should not have/could not have happened!! Jim (JEBar) really egged me on to shoot his Henry .44 RemMag lever action with a Nikon scope. While he was egging me, that beautiful Henry rifle was begging me. I haven't ever been able to do rifle shooting well at all, and that's why I'm a wheel-gun guy now. Alas, I gave in and shot the four rounds Jim set on the shooting bench. I cannot see how these POIs happened using a scope and (gasp) a rifle rest! All of above is about impossible to imagine. I think most of the reason is that Jim has a really fine-tuned rifle with a quality scope, and finely tuned-in sighting. It surely wasn't the shooter.

As I look again at the POIs in this 4-round group, I shake my head. You know, could it possibly have happened because of my new tri-focal glasses?!?

PT put the crosshairs on target and pulled the trigger .... the credit for doing so is all his .... shortly prior to leaving home I had to remount the scope on our 44 .... I used the Wheeler Professional Laser Bore Sighter, discussed in this thread ===> http://henryrifleforums.com/viewtopic.p ... re+Sighter , to sight it in at 25 yards .... unfortunately, I simply ran out of time and wasn't able to actually sight in the rifle .... the target below shows the formal sight-in at Lake City .... with the bore sighter at 25 I chose to stick with that distance .... the target on the left shows how she grouped the first 10 rounds a bit low and to the left of center ... I adjusted the scope and fired the right target ... the first 5 shots hit in the 9 ring a bit to the right and still low ... another adjustment followed by 5 more rounds that grouped a bit low and in the 10 ring .... another slight elevation adjustment resulted in the 10 rounds fired at the small center target .... for me, that was sufficient for shooting at the gathering .... if history repeats itself, I'll make some fine adjustments at 25 yards and then move back to 50 yards where I'll repeat the process .... my goal with this rifle is to eventually have the scope adjusted to be one inch high at 100 yards

The dinner at the restaurant was a cool time with good food. It is located in the lower level of the Independence, MO Bass Pro Shop. The venue itself helped us ramp up with all the hunting yarns told. JEBar is indeed the story-teller of happenings from the southeast, and Cofisher is the bard of the western side of middle-ground Missouri. The only thing we really were missing was the campfire and metal coffee cups. Otherwise, perfect.
we enjoyed the meal and comradery .... and yep, stories from all compass directions were plentiful ... ;) .. if a thunderstorm hadn't of been on the way, we'd of had that campfire and coffee in Henry mugs .. :D
