My Cattleman is also a .45 and has the brass back strap. When I saw your Ranch Hand picture I initially thought it was a Cattleman exactly like mine.

Mags, I think they are the same/similar guns. "RanchHand" or "SmokeWagon" revolvers are Taylor's branded versions of the Uberti "Cattleman".

That they are similar/different is what stirred up my curiosity. I can see how the SmokeWagon is different with the low hammer and checkered grips. Taylors also has the Cattleman in their line up. With the Cattleman and Ranch Hand brass back strap version I can't find what is different between them.

Re: Colt crazy cowgirl
As CT points out, they really are basically the same guns, some with minor tweaks to the features. A lot of these so-called "models" are marketing labels by Taylor's, Cimarron and other importers. An 1873 Colt is still basically an 1873 Colt, but you can put earlier or later vintage Colt grips on one or do slight tweaks to the rear gutter sight. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

In the Cimarron catalog there are many versions of the same revolver. Old style frame, pre-war frame, short barrel, long, etc.

Naw, not loosing any sleep over it, just an idle time curiosity. Browsing through the webpages in more detail, it looks to me that the Ranch Hand might just be a 'marketing label' change of the Uberti brass back strap Cattleman. Taylors sells many flavors of Cattlemans, but I did not see any Taylor Cattleman with the brass back strap. Just the Ranch Hand. Ok done with that. Time to go find something else to be idle curious about
Thanks for engaging with me on this.
