Hot and humid but had to get down to the range and try this handful of .45 Colt in the Bulldoggy.
First impression was you will know it when a round goes off but it doesn't cause pain, bust your knuckle, or smack the palm of your shooting hand.
Gun functioned fine with a variety of standard Colt loads which were 230-255 gr. bullets in plain hard cast, coated, plated and a few FMJ.
No heavy barrel leading with the plain cast bullets.
Picture showing size compared to my Ruger .45 Alaskan. Both have 2.5 inch barrel.
Did a couple of quick 5 shot point and shoot from 12 ft. with two hand hold as in a sudden self defense situation....
very pleased with that grouping shooting my 230 gr. Hammerhead loads!
Shooting with one hand was no problem as shown here.... https://youtu.be/woV0zAoMLfs
Overall it is a great easy to pack or conceal .45 Colt shooter which WILL get the job done but maybe not most
comfortable as an all afternoon target gun.
I shot 50 rds. thru it this mid morning.
Spring has sprung. Get out and shoot your Henry

Always liked the looks of the bulldogs. Especially the presentation of the 44 mag loaded with hollowpoints. There is NO doubt that you are serious if you point a bulldog 44 at a threat. Lol

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

50 rounds .. .. really good to hear .... I was afraid it would have a much harsher recoil

Feels like a mid level .44 Mag load in a N frame or Blackhawk.JEBar wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 6:47 pmfortyshooter wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 4:26 pmFirst impression was you will know it when a round goes off but it doesn't cause pain, bust your knuckle, or smack the palm of your shooting hand.

I checked the last unfired round that was an Xtreme Plated 255 gr. bullet loaded with 8.3 gr. of Unique and it had jumped crimp by .015 as compared
to the unfired rounds of same. About normal with heavy recoil and a plated bullet without crimp groove but a mild taper crimp.
No break was noted in plating!

Looks good forty and those are some big holes. Nice to hear it doesnt recoil like the 454 in the alaskan does.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......
