Not Bad for "Elbow Shooting"

Got to the outdoor range for the second time only this season and for the first time since FEBRUARY (shame on me!) with the 45 Colt Carbine. I went through a Lyman Globe swap to get the right front height for the Skinner Peep, and, since then, hadn't had it anywhere outdoors where I could really tell what the sight picture was like. Crazy weather and other projects, I guess.

Anyway, this was a bit rushed, as I only fired off 3 magazines' worth, or 24 rounds, as I was between a session at the pistol range (Uberti 45 - very fun) and my first trap outing in nearly 50 years (not good, but fun anyway). Decided to start at just 25 yds, but didn't have any bags/sleds/stabilizers, so this is just me and my elbows, shooting 8.0 grains of Unique/250 Gr MO Bullet HyTeks. Fairly rapid fire, relatively speaking. Sight pic was great with the finely honed "Skinny Post" that Shaver has in their assortment of Lyman Globe inserts.

Here's the 45 pair, target and requisite range towels doing a bit of photo-bombing! What a fun rifle/round to reload and shoot!

Elbow-shooting works! Nice job. 8-) Outdoors is the best place to go.

Yeah, fun times.
I enjoyed watching you put your Carbine through its paces yesterday.....and the Henry is definitely a looker.
Hopefully, another shooting time soon.

There's a flyer here or there, but I'm liking those targets more and more!

Glad you guys got out to shoot. Always a good thing. Nothing wrong with those Evan. I'm thinking hard on changing the sights on my .45 also. Possibly the Skinner "Winged" peep that d_b mentioned and a thinner front.
I LMAO at the "haven't shot trap in 50 years, not good, but fun anyway". At least you gave it a whirl. Keep at it!
